Ernest Aines is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter from Melbourne. His songs range from lore type storytelling and personal discovery to wistful ramblings. Aines released his debut EP, "Already Found", to a sold out launch in 2019 in Melbourne which the The Ark of Music described as "a true treat for the ears" and likened his sound to "Caamp meets Bon Iver – light, modern, and definitively heartfelt".
Aines is following up with 12 more songs recorded by himself while in lockdown and is preparing for release soon, starting in April 2021. Accolades for his songs, most recently, include winning The City of Melbourne online busking competition with "Heartwood", as well as being awarded Runner Up in the The Cygnet Folk Festival Song Competition 2020. In the past few years he has also won the Apollo Bay Songwriter Competition and was a finalist in both the International Songwriting Competition and the Melbourne Songwriting Competition.
Ernest's travels in the last few years took him to New Zealand, Japan, the USA, Canada, Germany and Brazil, taking on a bigger music scene and playing assorted gigs from favellas in Brazil to sunset Vancouver shores to the subway in Japan.
Ernest has played at many festivals, the Australian Open Tennis, winery events, online showcases such as So Far (the international pop-up phenomenon), the huge worldwide online festival Isol-Aid plus the 2021 International Folk Alliance Sounds Australia Showcase.
In the meantime he continues to perform live online (join him on Instagram or Facebook) and is about to start releasing singles for the remainder of 2021 ahead of launching his debut album.
